Dr. C and I are on our way home from Santa Barbara on Amtrak. Watching the Friday night traffic stalled on the freeway, we've decided that this is the way to travel!
We spent the night at a cute little B&B just off Cabrillo Avenue; very 50's vibe, but updated rooms---kind of fun, and the best part was this palm tree that was lit up like a Christmas tree---I had to snap a photo.
Our train yesterday was 2 hours late getting into Santa Barbara, because the train took off the bumper of a car at a railroad crossing. No one was hurt, but the guy without the bumper probably won't be able to rent a car again.
When we got to the hotel, we went straight to dinner at the Enterprise Fish Company. The special was a 2 pound lobster for $30 but neither of us was that hungry; the next best thing was a bowl of lobster bisque covered with puff pastry.
This was as good as it looks! I will post a recipe for this after I get home and try it out.
Santa Barbara is a beautiful city; it has a lovely atmosphere, the old California rancho style of architecture is stunning, but there really is no place like home. We are glad to be headed home to our beach city.
